There Will Be Blood
by Jason
This isn’t going to be about the movie There Will Be Blood, though I did watch that recently, and I have to say I wasn’t that impressed, although I did find the first part interesting just from a “history of oil drilling”-perspective.
Rather than movies I’m talking about shoes. New shoes. Two or three weeks ago I started running in a new pair of shoes. Things went surprisingly well; they are the same brand and model I had before, but I still thought there would be some painful breaking-in to do. (That’s the whole reason I got the new shoes so long before my upcoming marathon.
I’ve really been making good use of them–in addition to my weekday runs I ran a total of 30 miles last weekend with no real ill-effects. I’d almost gotten to the point where I’d forgotten they’re new. Then yesterday I ran a twenty-miler. A bit of a blister started to develop on the back of one of my feet, and I should have realized then that if I went running again the next day–today–that there would be blood.
But I didn’t, so I went running this morning (a considerably shorter run) and sure enough, when I got home and took off my shoes there it was, a streak of blood on one of my socks. Worst part is getting the socks clean again, really.
Lesson learned: with new running shoes, there will be blood.

try shampoo to get out the blood. cheap, clear shampoo is best, but any other should work.
sorry, forgot, rub in shampoo and let soak for awhile.
You go for a twenty miler in new shoes and I thought going for six and a quarter was good in new shoes.
Still in the early stages of training for a half marathon.
Well, they aren’t BRAND new. And 6.25 miles in under an hour is a good time.
